Project Concern - Over 30 Years of Service

Project Concern of Cudahy - St. Francis was started over 30 years ago by a group of volunteers who recognized that poverty and bad luck had no favorites.

In 1968, Project Concern received permission from St. Frederick's Catholic Church to use the large room under the church to store and distribute their donations. Project Concern was born, and people began joining together in a crusade of people helping people. Community interest grew and a number of the local parishes (Cudahy United Methodist, Holy Family Catholic, Nativity of the Lord Catholic, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic, St. John Ev. Lutheran,
and St. Mark's Ev. Lutheran) joined together to help support the fledgling endeavour.

With the continued support of the sponsoring parishes as well as a growing number of individuals, community groups and local businesses, Project Concern has come a long way in its mission to lend supportive services to families and individuals in need. In addition to providing food, clothing, furniture and household items to over 230 families a month, Project now works with different agencies and organizations to provide more outreach for clients that qualify for any number of the social services programs that are
available. Project Concern has also recently partnered with Interfaith to provide part-time Program and Outreach Assistants to provide increased community awareness and to give staff support and management. Project Concern is now recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a charitable organization, so all contributions are tax deductible.

Project Concern recognizes the importance of the many churches, schools, organizations, businesses, foundations, and individuals that allow this organization to meet its mission of supporting people in need.
